Hardware matters as much as boxes. Stainless hinges, slides and fasteners cost little extra and decide whether doors still close in year three.
The floor under an outdoor kitchen lives wet. Textured concrete and properly set pavers with real slope drain and keep footing, while smooth troweled surfaces turn slick the first time rain meets cooking grease.
The appliance package deserves the same scrutiny as the boxes it sits in. Outdoor-rated refrigerators, ice makers and grills are built with sealed electronics and stainless bodies for exactly this exposure, while an indoor unit rolled outside is a warranty claim waiting for a humid month. Rated equipment costs more up front and is the cheaper machine every year after.
Match the fuel plan to the cooking too. A built-in gas grill wants its line planned early, while smokers and pizza ovens bring their own clearance and heat questions to the cover design.

Gas, water and power all reach the kitchen underground or through the structure, and every one of them should be planned before the slab, not chased through it after. Outdoor electrical runs on weather-rated, ground-fault protected circuits, and plumbing needs a route that can be shut off and drained ahead of a hard freeze, rare here but not unheard of.
Drainage is its own line item. The kitchen floor pitches away from the house, the counters shed water away from cabinets, and the yard around it carries runoff somewhere other than the slab’s edge.
Lighting and fans ride on the same planning pass. Ceiling fans under a solid roof make August evenings usable, task lighting over the cooking zone makes the kitchen work after dark, and both want their circuits planned with the slab, not stapled on later.

Sequence the build in that order too: cover and slab, then utilities, then boxes and counters, then appliances. Kitchens assembled appliance-first end up rebuilding something.
Budget follows the same order. The cover, slab and utilities are the expensive, permanent half of the project, and the half worth doing right the first time, while appliances and furniture can phase in over seasons. A kitchen built structure-first can grow. One built appliance-first can only be repaired.
