Can you make my galley kitchen feel more open without removing walls?
Often, yes. Open shelving in place of solid uppers on one side, lighter finishes and better lighting change how a galley feels, and running the same flooring into the next room helps too. Removing a wall is an option, just not always the first move.
Can a small kitchen fit an island?
It depends on the dimensions. A kitchen at least 10 feet wide after cabinets can often take a narrow island, 24 inches deep, with clearance on both sides. Below that, a rolling cart or a peninsula off an existing counter usually makes more sense.
What if my kitchen has an unusual layout?
That describes most of the kitchens we work in. Homes in the Marigny, Bywater, Treme and the Garden District were not built around standard kitchen footprints, so odd angles, offset doorways and load-bearing walls are normal. We design around what is there.
How long does a small kitchen renovation take?
Most small kitchens take two to four weeks. Cabinet and countertop swaps sit at the shorter end, and layout changes, plumbing relocation and custom cabinetry at the longer end. You get a project timeline before work starts.
Do I have to move out while you redo my kitchen?
Not usually. You lose the kitchen during construction, so most homeowners set up a temporary prep area in another room, and we keep dust and debris contained to the work zone as much as possible.
How is a small kitchen renovation priced?
By scope. A cosmetic refresh with new cabinet fronts, counters and paint costs less than a gut renovation with layout changes and plumbing relocation. We price your actual kitchen dimensions and the work required, not a per-square-foot formula.
